The Office of Planning & Infrastructure administers and enforces land use and related regulatory ordinances in the unincorporated areas of Putnam County. Presently, these ordinances include: subdivision regulations, building permits (which include flood plain regulation), salvage yard permits, and zoning in portions of the unincorporated areas of the county. Staff also administers and enforces the Dilapidated and Abandoned Enforcement Ordinance which authorizes the County Commission to force the clean-up and/or demolition of dilapidated structures in the unincorporated areas of the county.
The Zoning Ordinance for the Zoned Unincorporated Areas of Putnam County regulates land use in portions of the unincorporated areas of the county. The ordinance regulates growth in a designated planning district which generally includes the area serviced by Putnam PSD sewer in Teays Valley and along the proposed US35 corridor.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY PLANNER – The Putnam County Office of Planning & Infrastructure is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Planner. The Planner shall be primarily responsible for the administration and enforcement of Putnam County planning ordinances. The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates possessing a college degree in planning/zoning or some related field; and/or having experience with the administration of zoning, subdivision regulations, or floodplain management is a plus. The starting salary for the position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications and includes an excellent benefit package.
